    IL-Makiage The Brand has a fierce cult following among industry professionals. Key Makeup Artists like Bobby Brown, Francois Nars, Dick Paige and the late Kevin Aucoin were all trained by Ilana Harkavi – owner and founder of IL-Makiage USA (not to mention the multitude of practitioners who work in film, TV & fashion). Mary Greenwell makeup artist to the late Princess Dianna stated in print that Ilana taught her everything she knows about makeup. Among IL-Makiage clients to mention a few are: Cher, Bette Midler, Madonna, Lisa Marie Presley, Diana Ross, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Demi Moore, Cicely Tyson, Tony Braxton, Uma Thurman, Kim Bassinger, Maria Carey, and Prince.

    Ilana Harkavi’s love for makeup begun in her dancing years and lead to founding Il-Makiage to develop her gift as an artist, educator & colourist, eventually creating palettes of over 500 shades – the largest in the world. Ilana later married a chemist and together they formulated the luxe products produced today.

Il-Makiage being a heritage brand, every fashion & beauty publication world wide has paid tribute to IL-Makiage as being a trend setter and true original in a sea of imitators. 1996 IL-Makiage won the Allure Magazine Best of Awards to products for Lipsticks and shadows.

     

    IL-Makiage changed the face of makeup. In 1970’s when other companies MU ranges were limited to neutral colours, IM boasted multiple ranges of colours in foundations, eye/lip pencils, the 21 lip kits and highlighter dust as its own product. IM was the first company to create matte eye shadow.

    In the1980’s Il-Makiage extended to the consumer market a full line of cosmetics sold through salons under the name IL-Makiage of Canada, later renamed MAC. Stepping up to meet market needs Il-Makiage designed the first makeup kit for the entire face in warm & cool options. IM was also the first company to create and launch hot makeup and skin care application techniques & self help tips in the form of a book called “I’ll make you beautiful”.

    In the 1990’s Makeup Artists become sought after celebrities. Make-up Artists, Kevin Aucoin, Bobby Brown and Francis Nars worked directly with IM to further a more detailed understanding of make-up and makeup application to develop there own cosmetic lines. Makeup exploded on a global scale and elsewhere products are sold on an impersonal level. Il-Makiage maintained its coveted air of exclusivity whilst

     

    reaching a larger audience. Women rediscovered the charm of products with a quality heritage and a

    history of creating distinctive products with unique packaging on a more personal level.

    By the 2000 the brand blossomed into an international brand having distribution throughout Europe and the

    Pacific Rim and 2008 having launched in Australia and New Zealand.
